While enjoying a fun Amazing-Race style game to different locations in the story of Holy Week, kids will learn about Jesus’ last week on earth. Kids will be given clues to take them from location to location. In order to receive their clues, they must perform a task (game, activity, review, etc.) at each station. Their race will finally land them at the empty tomb where you can celebrate the fact that He is risen indeed!

This 30-45 minute team game is perfect to add to any Easter celebration. It can used with families at a family event or play it during Children’s worship on Easter Sunday morning. The instructions include details for setting up 6 different teams to race at one time.

We will be using this as part of our Holy Saturday Family Fun Day. We are asking families to invite at least one friend or neighbor to join them in the Amazing Race. The Amazing Race materials were clearly written and easy to access. There were several files each for a different part of the event. I liked the color station markers and the simple challenges that each team will perform at the stations. The preschool crafts were especially helpful and we will use those after the kids do their Easter egg hunt. It is a wonderful way to teach the real meaning of Easter to the younger children. We are busy assembling the materials and prizes that we will award for completing the race and are looking forward to a fun day of fellowship and learning.

Families absolutely loved this event!! I watch The Amazing Race TV show so I added a few extra details to tie in to the show! First, I was able to purchase envelopes like the ones from the show so every family/team’s first clue was in an “official” Amazing Race envelope. Secondly, at the last location, I gave families holy week flashcards and they had to put the events in order (similarly to a challenge they frequently have on the last leg of The Amazing Race). When families put the events in order correctly, they jumped on a big rug (similar to how they jump on the mat at the end of each leg on the show). I purchased a cardboard prop of the empty tomb for families to pose in front of for a picture and awarded each family with a box of peeps for completing the race. I also gave each family story cards that they could use to tell and re-tell the events of holy week. I will definitely do this activity again!! I only had 13 families participate but I see how you can scale the event for larger crowds. I HIGHLY recommend this event!!!

We had a lot of fun hosting this event last weekend. The volunteers who hosted the challenges and the families who participated had a great time. We tacked a snack time, an Easter craft, and a family Easter movie onto the event, too.

We were so excited to use this at Easter for an event but will hold on to it until 2021. Great content and resource.
