I was born and raised in the Midwest where we are known for corn and racing. I graduated as a Bluffton Tiger from Bluffton High School in 1995. I was married three years later and still live in the same area. My husband and I have five children and several bonus kids through fostering. We love spending time with our kids and grandkids, camping, and visiting in the backyard.
Serving was a must after being saved by Jesus at age 21. Whether folding bulletins or helping with funeral dinners, it was about having a servant’s heart. Within this time, the Children’s Ministry came into view, impacting my life. In my initial years of children’s ministry, I was involved in overseeing the nursery and teaching various school-age children’s lessons. I created puppet shows and games to support the lessons. Later in life, God called my husband and me into full-time ministry. My husband served as the senior pastor while I took the role of the Children’s Director. That position included planning events, organizing volunteers, and overseeing fundraisers. God really “lit a fire” and a love for people in my soul in those years.
When we were called out of that position, I began my current position as Children’s Director at Sonlight Wesleyan Church. The Children’s Director’s responsibilities include organizing volunteers, planning curriculums, Awana Director, maintaining social media for “Sonlight Kids”, and coming alongside families to encourage them to grow in their relationships with each other and their families. Other responsibilities include planning events like VBS, Cabin Fever Nights, and escape rooms.
God has instilled in me a drive to serve Him well in the past six years. In 2021, with completed courses in the Kidmin Academy and Kidmin Excel programs, God’s calling for me was to step out and begin writing curriculum and designing video-led games for other children’s ministries. The most popular include The Great Gospel Escape (room) and a Prayer Buddy Campaign.
Continuing my education to help grow the Kingdom is my life’s purpose. I am determined to be as successful as possible for God’s calling. I believe that lives are changed for Jesus by Jesus.
