I am a God-loving, coffee-drinking, full of energy, full of laughter, and usually loud woman. Christian mom of 3 (2 daughters and a son in the middle). My children’s ages range from 26 years old to 14 years old. Dog mom of 2 (Chihuahua and German Shepherd). FT Children’s Minister in eastern NC.
I was born and grew up in Florida, mainly in Edgewater, FL (about 30 minutes south of Daytona Beach). My family attended church and were active believers/followers of God in church before I even arrived. I chose Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior and was baptized on July 15, 1979, when I was 8 years old. The church’s minister and wife, Fred & Madonna Smith, were another huge blessing and influence in my elementary years while living in Jacksonville, FL. I have loved God my whole life and decided I wanted to serve Him and His church in high school (however that looked whether volunteer or staff).
I attended Johnson University- FL (at the time, FL Christian College). I was an USAF/military wife for 18 years. From FL, I moved to Tucson, AZ (Davis-Monthan AFB), then to Azores, Portugal (Lajes AB), then to Spokane, WA (Fairchild AFB), then to Abilene, TX (Dyess AFB) and finally to Pikeville, NC (Seymour-Johnson AFB).
My mom was quite active in our church and children’s ministries throughout my childhood. I watched her serve and use her various talents to lead children’s music programs, VBS, teach children and women, volunteer in the church wherever needed as my dad also was a servant and volunteer, as a deacon, ministry van leader, and elder. I loved attending VBS, camp, programming, special events, conferences and even participated for 3 years in Bible Bowl in high school.
I have served in many volunteer roles (teacher for children’s minister, youth leader/helper, women’s ministry, small group leader, etc.) at various churches as I have grown and moved around. I joined the staff at Christ’s Church in September 2018. I am the current, full-time Children’s Minister. Our Children’s Ministry serves infants – 5th grade students and their families.
Through all seasons of my life, I have desired to serve God and share my relationship with Him to others. Through all of life’s circumstances, I have wanted to use it all to point others to Christ and the firm foundation He is and offers. My current passion is to teach/lead the next generation and their families to know God and encourage them in their relationship with Him. I plan to use all of my talents and skills to help other believers and leaders in their relationships and ministries, however God opens those doors.
