The lunch table can be one of the most important places in a child’s world. It’s where friendships are made, people are included (or excluded), and kindness is put into practice. In this 4-week series, kids will explore what God’s kingdom looks like through the familiar image of a lunch table.
“The Lunch Table” will help kids discover what it means to live like Jesus in their everyday relationships. It’s perfect for Back-to-School season or works any time during the school year!
Series Overview:
Week 1: “Our Table is BIG!” (Luke 19:1-10) – Kids will learn that everyone belongs at God’s table. Find a free sample of lesson 1 here!Â
Week 2: “What’s on the Menu?” (John 15:5-8) – We will discuss the fruit that grows in our hearts and how it affects people around us. When we stay connected to Jesus, His love grows in us and feeds others around us.
Week 3: “Loving the Lunchroom Bully” (1 Samuel 24:8-13) – Jesus teaches us to love difficult people without becoming cruel ourselves. Two great examples of this in the Bible are in 1 Samuel 24, when David doesn’t hurt Saul, even though he had the opportunity to, and at the crucifixion, when Jesus showed love even when he was being hurt. Because Jesus lives in us, he can help us do the same.
Week 4: “Packing your Lunchbox” (Luke 5:15-16) – If our lunchbox is empty and we don’t eat lunch, eventually we’ll get hungry. Our hearts get hungry, too! God fills our hearts like food fills our bellies.
By the end of the series, kids will understand that following Jesus isn’t just about believing the right things. It’s about bringing God’s love, kindness, and compassion to everyone who has a seat at the table.
