As children’s ministry leaders, we work hard to equip families to grow deeper in their faith at home, and that includes helping them dive into Scripture throughout the week! Part of that means helping kids and parents discover a Bible that works for the ages, stages, and preferences of their kids.

My favorite things about it:

• The Translation: NLT is written at about a 6th-grade reading level, so it provides an accurate yet easy-to-read translation of the Bible for kids to grow with. It’s a great first full-text Bible for kids to explore, and it is a natural step up from children’s storybook Bibles.
• The Look: It’s got enough color and cute graphics to be engaging for kids, but not so many that preteens will be turned off by it or think it’s too young for them. It’s also available in 5 different cover designs, so you (or your kids) can choose which one they want (the Teal Ocean design is my personal favorite)!
• The Supplemental Resources: There are lots of colorful, beautifully designed pages throughout the Go Bible that feature key questions, topics, and people within the Bible. These pages offer a deeper dive and a succinct explanation for kids to explore and apply to their lives. From mini-devotions to book introductions to character studies, these pages offer kids a clear and direct focus of study to take their faith deeper.
• The Focus: Obviously, it’s a Bible, so it provides a full text of the Old and New Testaments. But with several of its supplemental pages focused on transformation and how God’s Word changes us, the Go Bible gives kids tangible and practical ways to allow their faith to influence their everyday lives. It fully embodies Romans 12:2 by encouraging kids to “let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
