I’m a big fan of Christian author, Glenys Nellist (one of my daughter’s favorite books is Good News! God Made Me), so when I heard she was releasing a brand new, illustrated children’s Bible, I was PUMPED! And what’s even better is Glenys and ZonderKids have agreed to host a giveaway for our Deeper KidMin followers this week!
I Wonder: Exploring God’s Grand Story takes 16 stories from the Old Testament and 14 stories from the New Testament, sharing them in a storytelling narrative alongside beautiful illustrations.
But most children’s Bibles do that, right? So what makes I Wonder any different?
With each story, Glenys has included 3 “I wonder…” questions that encourage kids to explore God’s character, think intentionally about the story, and imagine how they fit into God’s big story themselves.
For example, after the story that shares parts of David’s life from the dark shepherd’s fields to facing Goliath to the writing of Psalm 23, kids are asked to wonder:
I wonder… if there are any dark valleys or places where I wouldn’t find God.
I wonder… how David really felt when he faced that giant.
I wonder… how God can see me, even though I’m small.
These types of thoughts and questions invite kids to make their faith their own and develop a personal relationship with their Lord. I Wonder takes kids beyond rote memorization of Bible stories/people and encourages them to contemplate, imagine, and experience the wonder of God’s living Word.
Plus, as part of the giveaway this week, we’re sharing 2 awesome resources that accompany I Wonder!
My daughter loves the pictures in our copy already, and it’s a Bible I’m excited for her to grow into. I Wonder is a Bible we’ll be using to study, learn, and grow from for years to come!
