Use this simple and fun game during Holy Week when talking about how Peter denied Jesus 3 times!

  • Bucket (1 per team)
  • Peeps Chicks (not the bunnies)
  • Plastic spoons
  • Tape, rope, or pool noodle for kids to stand behind

Use your Bible or the script below to teach about how Peter denied Jesus 3 times.

Say: After Jesus and His disciples had their Passover supper together, they headed out to the Mount of Olives. Jesus told His disciples that their group would be scattered. When Peter told Jesus that he would never deny Him or leave Him, Jesus told him that before the rooster crowed, he would deny Jesus three times. After Jesus was arrested, Peter followed the soldiers who took Jesus to the High Priest’s courtyard. While he was there trying to watch what was happening, three different people accused him of being one of Jesus’ followers. Each time Peter denied that he knew Jesus. After he denied Him the last time, the rooster crowed immediately. Today, we’re going to play a game to see which team/small group can land 3 “roosters” in their bucket first!

Set up one bucket per team and give each team some Peeps Chicks and plastic spoons. Kids take turns putting a peep onto their spoon and flinging it toward the bucket. To win, be the first team to fling three Peeps Chicks into their bucket or set a time limit and see which team can land the most Peeps Chicks into their bucket.

This game is one of the challenges kids complete in the Amazing Race: Holy Week Game, a team-game experience that invites kids to explore the events and locations of Holy Week. Learn more about this team game resource here.
