Valentine’s Day is all about love, and there are SO many cute crafts we can offer kids to help celebrate! But what if we were intentional about the crafts we offer? Let’s go beyond hearts and valentines and invite kids to make Valentine crafts that remind them of God’s love! Here are 10 ideas:
- Heart Prayer Pockets – Kids decorate paper or felt hearts with a pocket where they can tuck in prayer requests or names of people they want to share God’s love with.
- Jesus Loves Me Door Hangers – Provide foam sheets or cardstock for kids to design heart-shaped door hangers with phrases like “Jesus Loves Me” or “God’s Love Lives Here.”
- Heart Paper Airplanes – This is one craft the boys in your ministry will actually WANT to make! Fold a paper airplane so it looks like a heart flying through the air! DKM Subscribers can find step-by-step directions here.
- Handprint Heart Art – Kids make a heart shape with their handprints on construction paper and write a Bible verse about love in the middle, like John 3:16, 1 John 4:19, or any of these 10 verses about love!
- God’s Love Rocks – Provide smooth rocks for kids to paint with hearts, crosses, or encouraging words like “God loves you” to keep or share with others. They could even place the rocks around your church or community to share God’s love!
- Love Glasses – Kids decorate cardboard glasses in heart shapes to symbolize seeing the world through God’s love. Add a Bible verse about love on the arms of the glasses. (Psst – DKM Subscribers can access a Love Glasses template here!)
- Heart-Shaped Scripture Cards – Cut out heart shapes and have kids decorate them with stickers, stamps, or drawings, then write or glue a Valentine’s Day Bible verse on each one to give away.
- Love Wreaths – Kids glue heart cutouts onto a paper plate with the center cut out, creating a wreath. They can write ways to show love or God’s attributes on each heart.
- Candy Heart Bible Verses – Use candy conversation hearts to glue onto paper and form creative designs or patterns while discussing verses about love and kindness. (Bonus: Share these God’s Conversation Hearts with your Families as a fun and simple Valentine resource!)
- Bible Verse Valentine Cards – It’s hard to go wrong with a classic Valentine card, and these have Bible verses on them! Encourage them to add their own messages about God’s love to share with family or friends.
- BONUS: Valentine Bible Verse Coloring Pages! – These coloring pages are perfect for Valentine’s Day, to help kids hide God’s Word in their hearts as they learn about His love.
