We’re just about halfway through the year 2020. Have you seen those memes about how 2020 has gone so far? Here are some of my favorites…
These make me smile, but what a tough and strange year it’s been (and I think we’ve all felt like Chandler at some point)!
When God put the word “change” on my heart as my word for 2020, I had no idea how much things would change! I expected the changes that would come with life and ministry because of a new baby in the house, but I never expected the changes that would come because of a worldwide pandemic and a nationwide call for racial justice.
And rather than fighting the changes or complaining about them, I’m trying to lean into them to see how God wants to use this season to help me grow as a leader.
One of the ways I’m doing that is by joining Be the Bridge’s Facebook group and working through the resources in their units (I’m on unit 4!). I also ordered this book and will start reading it soon to help me think intentionally race conversations at home that are healthy and age-appropriate.
If you’re interested in helping the families you serve have intentional conversations about race too, check out two of our newest resources:
Precious in His Sight: Six family devotions to encourage conversations about racial issues based on six biblical truths that inform our views on race, equality, and justice.
Talking About Things That Matter: Resources to encourage & equip families to talk about 4 important issues: technology, social media & safety, diversity & differences, and ‘the talk.’
